Yesterday HSPRD filed a forced labor class action complaint under the federal Trafficking Victims Protection Act (TVPA) in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Wisconsin.

HSPRD attorneys Elizabeth Mazur and Margaret Truesdale, along with co-counsel Raphael Janove and Adam Pollock of Pollock Cohen, LLC, Jay Kumar, and Jacob Briskman, are pursuing this class action on behalf of immigrants who were detained at the Kenosha County Detention Center in Kenosha, Wisconsin. The suit alleges that Kenosha County made millions of dollars each year from housing immigrants while forcing them to perform janitorial labor without compensation. Plaintiffs allege that they and other proposed class members were threatened with solitary confinement and other serious punishments for refusing to work.
