Redefining the standard.

About our firm

Since our founding in 1985, HSPRD has set the standard for quality, creativity, and impact. Our passionate commitment to the law, first-rate client service, and sophisticated approach to complex cases have shaped the law for more than 30 years.

Our attorneys are recognized as leaders in their field. From the United States Supreme Court to courtrooms across the nation, HSPRD attorneys press ground-breaking cases across employment, personal injury, medical malpractice, mass tort, insurance coverage, immigration, commercial litigation, and constitutional and civil rights to achieve unparalleled results for our clients and partners.

We bring together a diverse breadth of legal specialties and pride ourselves on our ability to navigate legal complexities with unsurpassed clarity, versatility, and insight. HSPRD offers the range needed to understand your particular issue and the dedication required to provide personal attention from highly respected and accomplished attorneys.

HSPRD courtroom victories set high standards for financial compensation and societal impact. When the principles at stake are as important as the dollars at stake, we are committed to relentless, dedicated advocacy to deliver for our clients.

Commitment to Sustainability

HSPRD believes in promoting a culture of responsibility. We have strived to serve our clients in ways that minimize impact on the environment. Our environmental policies are aimed at reducing consumption of energy and non-renewable natural resources and on striving to achieve best practices for energy and natural resource conservation.

Green Efforts Recognized by the City of Chicago

In recognition of our efforts, the Chicago Department of Environment awarded HSPRD a Tenant Achievement Award as part of the Chicago Green Office Challenge.

We believe that everyone at HSPRD can play a daily role in reducing our impact on the environment, conserving natural resources, and managing our firm in a sustainable manner.

Our Commitment to Diversity

HSPRD promotes a diverse, inclusive work environment, understanding that diversity creates a productive workplace and creates value for its clients who appreciate and expect their legal team to reflect the diversity of their own organizations and communities.

Through diversity, not only do we enhance our ability to provide clients with innovative thinking and insightful solutions, but we also create a vibrant and exciting workplace.

We continually strive to improve diversity in every aspect of our workplace. Our commitment to diversity is not only measured by the make-up of our professionals, but also by the encouragement and support we give all of our professionals to do great work and achieve individual success both inside the firm and in our community.

Our firm expresses its encouragement and support of our diverse workforce in the programs and benefits we offer our employees. Among other things, HSPRD offers flex-time schedules and part-time employment for attorneys at both the partner and associate level and insurance benefits to domestic partners of firm employees.

In addition to internal policies, HSPRD supports organizations addressing issues of diversity within our communities, including the Illinois Coalition for Immigration and Refugee Rights, Heartland Alliance, MALDEF, and Women Employed.

Social Responsibility

Community service is fundamental to HSPRD’s culture. We are fully dedicated to serving the communities in which our lawyers and staff work and live. We carry out our commitment in a variety of ways, including encouraging our lawyers to become active in community organizations, supporting pro bono activities, donating money to not-for-profits, and co-counseling cases with local and national advocacy organizations.
