Update: This event is approved for CLE credit for Illinois

For a panel discussion on Trump, the Courts, and Election Protection with attorneys who litigated the Illinois challenge to Trump’s presidential candidacy.

In January 2024, HSPRD, Free Speech For People, and attorney Ed Mullen represented voters contesting Trump’s eligibility for office under Section 3 of the Fourteenth Amendment of the U.S. Constitution. They secured a decision from Judge Tracie Porter that Trump was disqualified from the presidency because he engaged in insurrection by inciting and supporting the January 6, 2021 attack on the Capitol. The U.S. Supreme Court subsequently held in Trump v. Anderson that states do not have the authority to remove presidential candidates from the ballot under Section 3. Hear attorneys discuss the case, implications of the Supreme Court’s decision, and critical work on election protection.
