On Tuesday, June 27th, 2023, Andrés Gallegos was among the speakers during Michigan’s Department of Civil Rights 2023 Civil Rights Summit in Novi, Michigan, where he presented on “Disability and Health.” The panel discussed the significant barriers confronting people across all categories of disabilities when attempting to access healthcare; the systemic challenges the disability community confronts today; and specific strategies to address those systemic challenges. The Summit aimed to enhance awareness through education provided by experienced advocates and to foster collaboration with well-established professionals in the field who have extensively worked on these issues throughout the state of Michigan.
Andrés Gallegos is one of the country’s leading disability rights attorneys and advocate for the rights of people with disabilities. Mr. Gallegos is a frequent lecturer, at the national and local level, on the disability rights movement, health equity for persons with disabilities, the rights of persons with disabilities under Americans with Disabilities Act, as well as the application of the federal antidiscrimination laws to healthcare providers.
