On August 14th, HSPRD shareholder and head of HSPRD’s immigration and nationality practice group joined Ahmed Rehab, CAIR-Chicago’s Executive Director, in an Immersion Day discussion with CAIR-Chicago’s summer interns. Kalman and Ahmed spoke about their activism and their efforts to build coalitions for progressive social change among metropolitan Chicago’s diverse ethnic, racial, and religious communities, including Chicago’s Muslim and Jewish communities. Kalman discussed his efforts to build strong intercommunal coalitions in opposition to Islamophobia, xenophobia, anti-Semitism, racism, and homophobia and his support for the empowerment of Muslim American communities.

“I salute CAIR-Chicago for providing internship opportunities to university students and teaching them that the success of social justice movements depends upon building strong intercommunal coalitions for progressive change,” said Kalman about the event.
