HSPRD’S Commitment to the LGBTQ+ Community

As we celebrate LGBTQ+ Pride Month, HSPRD recognizes that the struggle for equality is ongoing.  Anti-LGBTQ+ bills are advancing in state capitals, and hate crimes against transgender individuals, especially trans women of color, are on the rise.

HSPRD is proud to work toward greater equality for LGBTQ+ individuals. Our commitment includes advocating on behalf of LGBTQ+ immigrants fleeing persecution, representing individuals facing workplace and other discrimination on the basis of sexual orientation or gender identity, and serving on Gender Inclusive Schools, a working group focused on improving educational policies and practices for transgender and gender expansive students.

HSPRD attorney Chirag Badlani, recognized as one of the Best LGBT Lawyers Under 40 by the National LGBT Bar Association, serves as the Past Chair of the LGBTQ+ Law Section of the Federal Bar Association, which works to educate practitioners about issues affecting the community. On June 11, 2021, he will be presenting at a webinar titled “LGBTQ+ Pro Bono Showcase – The Impact of Pro Bono Work on LGBTQ+ Individuals,” to discuss his representation of LGBTQ+ individuals and families, and offer avenues for greater pro bono involvement.

This Pride Month, we celebrate the achievements of those fighting for equality, and recognize that there is more work to be done.  #Pride2021
