•  What is your favorite thing about working here?

HSPRD attorneys are among the most talented in their respective practice areas.  When I joined HSPRD, I realized early on that we collaborate as a team to obtain the best results for our clients.  Being part of a firm with diverse practice areas allows us to obtain the best comprehensive solution to every problem.

•  What do you enjoy most about your practice?

We’re all familiar with the phrase, “you can’t judge a book by its cover.” I’m not surprised by the puzzled expressions I see when I tell people that I truly enjoy counseling clients and litigating disputes arising out of insurance contracts. Most of the disputes we deal with involve claims arising from toxic torts and environmental contamination.  The medical and technical science behind these claims is constantly evolving and fascinating.  My practice continuously provides opportunities to expand my knowledge base.

•  What’s the most difficult part of your job?

Some of the cases I work on involve events that occurred decades ago. Discovery often results in millions of pages of documents to organize for use at depositions, motion practice and trial.  The nature of my practice requires that I stay up-to-date on recent caselaw and legislation in numerous jurisdictions.

• Fun Fact: What is something most people don’t know about you?

Both of my parents are from Chicago, but my two brothers and I were born in Utah.  Though we moved out of Utah and settled in Chicago during my early childhood, my first years as a practicing attorney brought me full circle. My first case at HSPRD involved a claim related to a former explosives facility located in Spanish Fork, Utah.

• What do you like to do outside of work?

I really look forward to spending time with my family.  My wife and I have two young children that keep us busy.  Waking up on a Saturday or Sunday morning and heading down for a family breakfast is the highlight of my week.
