HSPRD Makes Step Toward Victory Against GLK Foods, LLC.

HSPRD recently obtained a victory in a class and collective class action brought by Mexican migrant workers against GLK Foods, known as the largest sauerkraut producer in the world, when the Court awarded the workers $837,518 in unpaid wages and damages.  This damages award follows the court’s ruling that GLK unlawfully discharged the workers, in two successive seasons, after recruiting and hiring them as part of the federal government’s H-2B temporary foreign worker visa program, which authorizes employers to recruit and employ foreign workers on a temporary basis if domestic workers are not available to fill positions.  HSPRD filed this case on behalf of the workers in 2012.
