HSPRD Celebrates Centro Romero’s 35th Annual Gala

On Thursday, October 17th, Centro Romero celebrated 35 years of service to the immigrant and refugee community at their annual benefit, “SAY YES: 35 Years – Embracing the Fabric of Our Future.” HSPRD showed its full support by sponsoring the event. Many of our attorneys are keen supporters and advocates of Centro Romero, including immigration attorney Kendra Scheuerlein, who is currently the vice present of the executive board.

The event not only celebrated Centro Romero’s achievements over the past thirty-five years, it also highlighted some of the most outstanding organizations and people who have contributed to the organization’s success. Some of the awardees included Arrupe College of Loyola University Chicago, which was recognized as their Monsenor Romero awardee (receiving the first ever Saint Romero Award). Another awardee was Sandra Arellano, the President of the Board of Directors of Centro Romero, who received the Community Leadership award as she stepped down as president after 12 years of service.

The gala was followed by a delightful dinner, an extensive silent auction, and fun raffle prizes. Besides celebrating many years of service, part of the celebration included the excitement of having Pope Francis recognize their namesake- Oscar Romero – as a Saint last fall.
