Chris Wilmes Moderates Illinois Supreme Court Candidate Forum

Last night, HSPRD partnered with our friends at Nixon Peabody and the American Constitutional Society to host a candidate forum for seven of the candidates running for Illinois Supreme Court. HSPRD shareholder Chris Wilmes moderated the panel, peppering the candidates with questions about their priorities and judicial philosophies. Chris asked the candidates about what factors they consider when interpreting statutory and constitutional texts, which Supreme Court Rules they believe should be changed, and what they would consider when appointing lawyers to the circuit court bench. He also asked candidates questions about bail reform and the rising cost of civil discovery.

The following candidates appeared for the event: Hon. Cynthia Y. Cobbs, Daniel Epstein, Hon. Shelly A. Harris, Hon. Nathaniel Howse, Clint Krislov, Hon. Margaret S. McBride, Hon. P. Scott Neville Jr., and Hon. Jesse Reyes. The event was live-streamed by CAN-TV.

Mr. Wilmes is Shareholder with HSPRD and has worked for the firm for the past ten years. He is a highly skilled litigation attorney, who focuses on class actions and multi-plaintiff matters in cases involving civil rights, employment discrimination, and violations of wage and hour laws.
