HSPRD is excited to announce Partner Charlie Wysong has been named to the Chicago Daily Law Bulletin’s “40 Under Forty” list for 2022. Charlie and the other honorees were recommended by their peers and chosen by the Law Bulletin and Chicago Lawyer selection committee.
At HSPRD, Charlie litigates complex claims and appeals covering a range of legal issues. His practice focuses on civil rights, employment litigation, whistleblower claims. Earlier this year, Charlie obtained a $13 million settlement for a physician whistleblower in a False Claims Act case about Medicare Advantage fraud in which the government declined to intervene.
Charlie also represents clients in education and disability claims. He recently prevailed in the Illinois Appellate court to established that youth sports teams may not discriminate against their youth athletes based on a mental health disability under Illinois law.
This fall, Charlie also filed a class action suit on behalf of residents of six area nursing facilities against the Alden Group, one of the largest health care providers for older adults in Illinois, seeking to end chronic and intentional understaffing at the facilities. The complaint argued Alden attracts thousands of residents to its facilities, and then systematically understaffs those facilities, leading to neglect, preventable injuries and illnesses, and dangerous and often grossly unsanitary living conditions for the residents. The case was widely covered in Chicago and featured in USA Today.
HSPRD is thrilled to have Charlie’s and the firm’s leading civil rights work for our clients recognized by the Chicago legal community. We are extremely proud to have Charlie and congratulate him on this well-deserved honor.
