We proudly announce that HSPRD’s leading Disability Rights partner, Andrés Gallegos, presented at the White House forum on Disability Rights for the 50th Anniversary of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 in Washington, D.C. on September 26th, 2023. The Rehabilitation Act of 1973 has been a milestone for people with disabilities across the nation as the first federal law to recognize people with disabilities as a protected class. During the forum, Mr. Gallegos presented on the significance of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 by exemplifying how he employs the law to advocate for and protect the rights of people with disabilities – ensuring recipients of federal financial assistance do not discriminate against people with disabilities.
