HSPRD congratulates Shareholder Caryn C. Lederer, who will be honored with the 2025 Ruth Goldman Award at the American Constitution Society (ACS) Chicago chapter’s Legal Legends Luncheon on September 10, 2025.
ACS is a national organization of legal professionals dedicated to supporting and advocating for laws and legal systems that redress the founding failures of our Constitution, strengthening our democratic legitimacy, upholding the rule of law, and realizing the promise of equality for all, including people of color, women, LGBTQ+ people, people with disabilities, and other historically excluded communities. The Ruth Goldman Award honors attorneys who have made significant contributions to advance the status of women in the legal profession and the goals of ACS.
Caryn is a Shareholder at HSPRD where she represents clients in complex litigation matters, with a focus on civil rights, constitutional law, class actions, and employment litigation. Caryn also advises organizations, institutions, and businesses on best practices and legal compliance, including navigating critical strategic issues in the current federal landscape.
Caryn is a seasoned litigator who, in 2024, led the legal team representing Illinois voters in the ballot challenge to Donald J. Trump’s candidacy, and secured the Illinois decision that Trump engaged in insurrection and is disqualified from the Presidency under Section 3 of the Fourteenth Amendment. Her work has garnered her repeated recognition as a top employment and civil rights lawyer by publications including Illinois Super Lawyers, Leading Lawyers, and Lawdragon. She is also Chicago Coalition for the Homeless Justice Circle honoree for providing outstanding contributions to justice for those experiencing homelessness. Caryn serves on the Legal Advisory Board of ARISE Chicago, the Chicago Bar Foundation’s Rapid Response Advisory Committee and its Nonprofit Legal Support Project, a new program to provide support to Illinois non-profits on threats posed by the current political environment.
