Tex Pasley to Present at the 2022 Housing Justice Summit

HSPRD’s Tex Pasley will be among the panelists at this year’s Housing Justice Summit, co-hosted by Housing Choice Partners and the Chicago Area Fair Housing Alliance. The Summit is a 2-day hybrid event that focuses on building movements to advance fair housing accountability and restitution. Tex will be presenting on June 22nd, 2022, along with the other panelists on “The New Jim Code: Algorithms and Housing Discrimination,” a panel designed to provide background on emerging disparities produced by tenant screening technologies and what solutions are needed to uphold fair housing rights.  Tex will also discuss the Cook County Just Housing Amendment (JHA) screening process and provide recommendations for regulating tenant screening companies.

Clayton “Tex” Pasley is an associate at Hughes Socol Piers Resnick & Dym, Ltd. Mr. Pasley represents plaintiffs and whistleblowers in complex class action, civil rights, and qui tam lawsuits, with special interest in housing and consumer protection matters. He joined the firm in 2021.

Prior to joining the firm, Mr. Pasley was a legal fellow at the Shriver Center on Poverty Law in Chicago. At the Shriver Center, he litigated and investigated novel Fair Housing Act challenges against Illinois local governments over enforcement of “crime-free housing” ordinances. He also advocated for improvements to laws meant to protect renters who are denied housing due to inaccurate, irrelevant, and misleading criminal or eviction records.
