HSPRD congratulates former partner Mary Margaret Rowland on her confirmation by the United States Senate to the bench of the United States District Court for the Northern District of Illinois. Judge Rowland has served as a United States Magistrate Judge since 2012, and before that was a partner at HSPRD for 12 years.
Last week the U.S. Senate confirmed Mary Rowland to be a United States District Court Judge in Chicago, making her the first openly LGBTQ judge Trump has put on the bench. She was previously a United States Magistrate Judge. Before that, she worked as the head of appeals for the Federal Defender Office and was a civil rights lawyer with HSPRD.
“Mary Rowland was one of the most talented attorneys I have worked with in my 45 years practicing law. She has served with high distinction as a Magistrate Judge and will be an outstanding member of the District Court. We are proud and pleased that she has received this honor.” Said colleague and longtime friend Matt Piers.
