Hughes Socol Piers Resnick & Dym, Ltd. (HSPRD) announced that a federal court granted the habeas petition of Diana Santillana Galeano, who federal agents detained earlier this month at the North Side daycare center where she worked.
After the court ruled that her detention without bond hearing was unlawful, ICE released Ms. Santillana Galeano from custody in Indiana on Wednesday night.
“We are thrilled that Ms. Santillana has returned home to Chicago where she belongs,” said attorney Charlie Wysong, who represents Ms. Santillana Galeano along with attorney Naiara Testai. “We will continue to pursue her immigration claims so she can remain in the United States. We are grateful for the community’s support and ask that her privacy be respected while she rests and recovers from this ordeal.”
