On April 25, 2017 Judge William Orrick of the United States District Court for the District of Northern California issued a nationwide preliminary injunction halting enforcement of Executive Order 13768 from blocking federal funding to so-called “sanctuary jurisdictions.”

HSPRD recently obtained a victory in a class and collective class action brought by Mexican migrant workers against GLK Foods, known as the largest sauerkraut producer in the world, when the Court awarded the workers $837,518 in unpaid wages and damages.

HSPRD lawyers Juliet Berger White and Kate Schwartz presented on the False Claims Act to law students at the University of Illinois College of Law in a class “Compliance, Ethics, and Professional Responsibility.”

On Saturday, April 8th, “Spin to Break the Cycle” took over the iconic House of Blues Chicago uniting individuals, corporations and the greater Chicago community as together to help break the cycle and invest in the future of Chicago’s youth; creating stronger, safer, and healthier communities.

On March 22, 2017, HSPRD filed an amici curiae (friends of the court) brief on behalf of a group of police chiefs and sheriffs from jurisdictions across the country.
