HSPRD’s Chirag Badlani quoted in Chicago Tribune on Sanctuary Cities

On April 25, 2017, a column in the Chicago Tribune on the Trump Administration’s attempts to cut funding to so-called “sanctuary cities” quoted HSPRD Attorney Chirag Badlani on the federal government’s ability to force city and state officers to enforce federal immigration laws.  Mr. Badlani stated that U.S. Supreme Court decisions prohibit states or cities from being coerced into action by the federal government with a financial “gun to the head,” citing language used by Chief Justice Roberts in National Federation of Independent Business v. Sebelius.
