HSPRD Obtains Class Action Settlement Against EZ Payroll & Staffing Solutions

Today, a judge approved a $524,000 class action settlement brought by HSPRD clients against EZ Payroll & Staffing Solutions. The lawsuit alleged that EZ Payroll charged temporary staffing workers for rides in violation of the Illinois Day & Temporary Labor Services Act. That law prohibits a temporary staffing agency from passing along the cost of transportation to its workers. The workers were represented by HSPRD Shareholder Chris Wilmes, who was pleased with the outcome of the case, “We are happy that workers will be repaid for all of the money deducted from their checks for transportation. Illinois law is clear that temporary staffing agencies cannot charge workers for rides.” Wilmes noted that settlement checks should be distributed by the end of the year.
