The $45.3 million settlement obtained by HSPRD and Jenner & Block for their client Frances F. Gecker, the Chapter 7 bankruptcy trustee for Emerald Casino, resolved claims against one of six defendant directors and officers of the defunct Emerald Casino, in breach-of-contract and breach-of- fiduciary-duty litigation brought by the trustee against Emerald’s officers and directors. Claims against four more defendants are currently on appeal before the United States Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit in Chicago. Those claims could yet boost the total recovery to $272,000,000 or more.
