HSPRD partner Chirag Badlani has been named to the Chicago Daily Law Bulletin’s “40 Under Forty” list for 2021. Chirag and the other honorees were recommended by their peers and chosen by the Chicago Daily Law Bulletin and Chicago Lawyer selection committee. This year, more than 1,000 nominations were received. Since 2000, “40 Under Forty” has recognized more than 800 attorneys for their accomplishments and giving back to the community through civic or pro bono efforts.
At HSPRD, Chirag represents clients in a wide variety of civil matters, with experience in areas such as civil rights, constitutional law, labor and employment, commercial litigation, and immigration law. In 2021, Chirag obtained a favorable settlement for whistleblowers in Lake County, Illinois, who alleged they were fired after making reports of improper spending. He also secured approval of a class-wide settlement for indigent individuals in Giles County, Tennessee, who are challenging user-funded private probation.
In April, Chirag was appointed by Illinois Governor JB Pritzker to the Illinois Supreme Court Statutory Court Fees Task Force to address access to justice issues. He serves on the Leadership Board of the National Immigrant Justice Center, and as a Past President of the Federal Bar Association’s LGBTQ+ Law Section. He has been named to the Rising Stars list in Illinois by Super Lawyers in 2020 and 2021, and to the Emerging Lawyer list by Leading Lawyers. In 2018, Chirag received the LGBT Bar Association 40 Under 40 Award.
