Matthew Arnold is a Partner with Hughes Socol Piers Resnick & Dym, ltd. Matt concentrates his practice in medical malpractice defense, healthcare law and transactions, mental health law, nursing home liability, appellate law and insurance coverage disputes.

Using his 20 years of experience, Matt has tried dozens of cases to verdict, successfully argued before Illinois Appellate courts and the Illinois Supreme Court as well as professional regulatory boards. Matt has a keen sense for negotiations and is adept at mediating cases amongst healthcare providers, insurance groups, physician groups and healthcare systems to discuss realistic outcomes and solutions for parties to avoid costly litigation. In addition to his litigation services, Matt provides invaluable risk avoidance and management solutions to his hospital clients.

Matt has over a dozen published supreme and appellate decisions including Sullivan v. Edward Hospital, 209 Ill.2d 100 (2004); one of the most cited cases in Illinois for proper expert disclosure and established the legal standard of care for nurses.
