On June 24, 2017, Chirag Badlani spoke at the U.S. Conference of Mayors’ annual meeting in Miami Beach on legal issues regarding “Sanctuary Cities” and federal attempts to deny categories of funding to cities that limit local enforcement of federal immigration laws. Chirag spoke on a panel alongside Eric Garcetti, Mayor of Los Angeles, Jorge Elorza, Mayor of Providence, Tom Tait, Mayor of Anaheim, Charles Ramsey, former Commissioner of the Philadelphia Police Department and Joshua Hoyt, Executive Director of the National Partnership for New Americans as part of a session of the U.S. Conference of Mayors’ Latino Alliance and Immigration Reform Task Force. The U.S. Conference of Mayors is an organization of 1,400 mayors from cities around the country with populations of 30,000 or more.
